The Gnarled Tree
Winskill Stones, Yorkshire Dales National Park
I have been a commercial photographer for nearly 20 years, I became a photographer because I loved the immediacy of being able to be creative and capture a scene or composition and see it straight away using a digital camera and then enhancing/adjusting it using the relevant software. I found that when I started Photographing for clients professionally, I was always bound by “the requirements of the brief” ..and rightly so you might add!!. It feels like the more I have had to stick to “the brief” the less creative I have become.
This year I made a promise to myself that I will take a step back from the commercial mindset of photography and regain that spark of creativity. Taking time out of hectic everyday family life and make an effort to get out with my camera and start taking pictures freely….I will use this space as an opportunity to post my efforts and reignite that tiny spark….
Limestone pavement on White Scars with Ingleborough beyond.
limestone is one of the most beloved of rocks. Sort after by Quarrymen for centuries, cavers and potholers bewitched by the challenges of its underground labyrinths, climbers persevered on its breathtaking and dangerous routes, all the while photographers perched, waiting, watching for that perfect moment…
Passionate about Products
A passion for delivering products in a different way!! A brief insight into this test image I created based around the Absolute Vodka Brand for an Alcohol based advertising product image. This shot had been well over ten years in the making. I had originally capture all of the strawberry elements years ago, dropping them into a water tank and capturing the bubbles that formed after the initial splash. I was so pleased they started to resemble fish and took on a life of their own. It wasn't until years later that I had the idea of combining it with a product to bring the whole thing to life and give it a new meaning and sense of place.
